Admin. Renato D. Bermejo was appointed by the former President Rodrigo R. Duterte on May 10, 2017 as Administrator of the Philippine’s Land Registration Authority (LRA), which under E.O. 649 shall have the same rank and qualifications in the judiciary to that of an Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals.
He also received presidential appointments from Former President Benigno C. Aquino III and Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He was also appointed as Presiding Judge in 2013, Department of Justice Prosecutor in 2009, Acting Police Regional Appellate Board Chairman in 2006, and Department of Agrarian Reform Trial Attorney in 2003. After having passed the 2001 Bar exam he engaged in private practice of law until his aforementioned stints in the government.
He has the distinction of being appointed as the youngest Administrator of the Philippine’s LRA at 42 years old, wherein the minimum age requirement thereof under the law is 40 and who must be an attorney for at least 15 years.
Under his watch, in more than 4 years alone, the LRA had already instituted 261 program versions and revisions in the agency’s computerization, which is higher in volume than the combined programs of all his predecessors. In one year alone, in year 2018, he had instituted more program versions and revisions than the entire 6 years of any of his predecessors.
In the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Report and in an article by Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas, which was published in the GMA News Online on October 24, 2019, higher scores were registered in the registering property.
It was reported as having higher scores even when there are other government agencies that were included and rated in the aforesaid group indicator and only the LRA registered the scores.
His alma mater are Ateneo De Cagayan and Ateneo De Davao, where he earned degrees in Marketing and Law. He was later conferred the Doctor of Jurisprudence degree.
He also attended Master of Laws at the San Beda Graduate School of Law, Master of Arts in History at the University of Santo Tomas, and Master in Business Administration at the Ateneo School of Business and Governance.
He is frequently visiting coffee shops to drink coffee or tea and also find time to keep in touch with nature such as the forests, water falls, hot springs, and lakes.
